when music becomes a free commodity

The most disturbing thing that I’ve found existent within the hearts and minds of our youngsters particularly in the jobless high school demographic is the serious justification of trading music as if it means nothing…

I recall a facebook status from a kid that goes to my church and she announced non-chalantly if anyone has the new David Crowder* Band CD Church Music which she announced she absolutely loves.  Needless to say, I flat out said go and buy it rather than burning it or having someone else burn it for you.

Her excuse… I don’t have money…

The next thing you know, someone in her circle of influence let her borrow it.  I guarantee that she burned it for herself and is now listening to Shadows or The Eastern Hymn or Oh Happiness in less quality but nonetheless free…

The hilarious thing is that she and anyone else thinks this is a harmless thing to do.  The excuse is, “Well, the artists makes more money anyways.” or “They pocket their CD sales so it doesn’t matter.”

It doesn’t justify stealing at all…

If you don’t have money to get a CD for 17.00, work for it…

Especially since @crowderband music is worth spending money on…

psh… kids these days…
